exaEdit and language

The editor exaEdit is laid out multi-lingual. You must distinguish three areas:

The exaEdit commands

The command words and their parameters are always words from the English language. Examples are MOVE, COPY, ON, OFF etc.

There is no intention to use other languages concerning the commands. If you do not know English you will have to learn commands and parameters as sequences of characters. However, you need to know very little English in order to derive the meaning of a command from its word.

The exaEdit messages and the exaEdit-internal help texts

The messages given by exaEdit and the short help texts, which are provided by the exaEdit command HELP are available in different languages.

The editor exaEdit is available in an English and in a German version. However, in both versions you have the exaEdit command LANGUAGE for switching from one language to the other. LANGUAGE has currently the following parameters:

When downloading exaEdit you may choose between the German and the English version.

It is not difficult for the author of exaEdit to teach the editor other languages than German or English. The only requirement is the assistance of a person with the appropriate mother tongue and with some editor knowledge. If you are interested in other languages for exaEdit see bottom of page.

The exaEdit user manual

The user manual is available in the four different formats HTML, PDF, Postscript, and DVI. All formats are available in German and in English as well.

For the user manual in other languages see &sharps; bottom of page.

If you have any questions on exaEdit (features, installation, usage, documentation, errors etc.), please feel free to contact Peter Preus, the author of exaEdit, perhaps by E-Mail.
